ALPHAMEGA RUN AS ONE

ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets are organizing and inviting you to the:

9th ALPHAMEGA RUN AS ONE on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The public road races include a half marathon, a 10K race, a 5K race, and a 1500m race for children and adults, all taking place on October 20, 2024, starting and finishing at ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket in Engomi.

Age Limits for Participants

According to race regulations, participants in the half marathon (21.0975m) must be at least 18 years old. For the 10K race, participants must be at least 16, and for the 5K race, at least 13 years old. The 1500m fun race is open to children aged 4–8, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Half Marathon Route Description

Two loops of 10.548 K

From the starting point in the parking area of ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket on Nikou Kranidioti Street, head west via Griva Digeni Avenue toward 28th October Street (Papafilippou area). At the Griva Digeni and 28th October intersection, switch to the right lane, make a U-turn at the Airport roundabout, and head east on Griva Digeni Avenue. At the intersection with Prodromou (Exagonou lights), turn around and head west on Griva Digeni. Turn left at Agiou Prokopiou (European University), proceed south to the Archangelou Michail and Lefkotheou intersection (K Cineplex lights). Make a U-turn and head north on Archangelou Michail, then turn left at Griva Digeni and complete one loop when you reach the ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket intersection.

10K Route Description

One loop of 10K

Starting from ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket’s parking lot on Nikou Kranidioti Street, head west on Griva Digeni Avenue toward 28th October Street (Papafilippou area). At the Griva Digeni and 28th October intersection, switch to the right lane, make a U-turn at the Airport roundabout, and head east on Griva Digeni Avenue. Turn left at Agiou Prokopiou (European University), continue south to the Archangelou Michail and Lefkotheou intersection (K Cineplex lights). Make a U-turn and head north on Archangelou Michail, then turn left at Griva Digeni, and finish at the ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket.

5K Race Description

One loop of 5K

Starting from ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket’s parking lot on Nikou Kranidioti Street, head west on Griva Digeni Avenue toward 28th October Street. At the Griva Digeni and 28th October intersection, switch to the right lane, make a U-turn at the Airport roundabout, and head east on Griva Digeni. Turn left at Nea Engomi, continue to the roundabout, rejoin Griva Digeni, and make a U-turn at Metohi lights before finishing at ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket.

Start Guidelines

Participants must be at the starting area no later than 30 minutes before the start of their race. From 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, vehicular traffic will be prohibited along the race routes.

Positioning at the Start

Runners should take their positions at the start line 15 minutes before their race begins. International athletes and runners from running clubs will occupy the front rows. Please show sportsmanship and allow athletes competing for awards to take these spots.

During the Race

Support stations will be available along the route:

  • Water stations: at 5K, every 2.5K, and at the finish.
  • First aid stations: along the route and at the finish line.
  • An ambulance with paramedics will be on standby at the finish.
  • Rescuers and volunteers will be present along the course.

Time Limit for Completion

The half marathon must be completed by 10:30, three hours after the start. If runners exceed the time limit, they must move to the sidewalk and continue walking for their safety and that of the public.

If a runner drops out for any reason, they should notify a race official or volunteer.

Medical Coverage

All participants run at their own risk. The organizers are not responsible for any health issues that may arise during the event. All runners are advised to undergo a medical examination before participating, especially those over 35. Medical certificates are not required, but participants must sign a waiver. Medical personnel will be available at the start, finish, and key points along the route.

Awards Ceremony

Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each race. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal. Digital certificates will be available online after the results are finalized.

The race ALPHAMEGA RUN AS ONE follows the “Competition Rules 2018–2019” of IAAF, AIMS, and KOEAS.
