PLACEMENT – Starting line

Runners must take their positions no later than 15 minutes before start time.

International athletes and athletes/members of running clubs will start in the front rows of the starting line.

Runners are kindly requested to demonstrate fair play and allow athletes competing to start in the first rows of the starting line.

During the race

Along the route, the following support stations will be available for runners:

  • Water supply stations: at the 5th km, every 2.5 km and at the finish.
  • First aid stations: found along the route and at the finish.
  • Ambulance and medical personnel on-site / at the finish.

 Time Limit

Half Marathon starts at 7:30am and ends at 10:30am. In case the runner requires more time than the specified running time and the time limit of the stations’ availability, then he/she must continue the race WALKING on the pavement. Safety reasons for runners, as well as road traffic safety make the imposition of this measure necessary. Runners should make sure to strictly adhere to these instructions.

If a runner abandons for any reason, he/she should contact a person in charge or a volunteer of the Organizing Committee at any point across the route.

In the event that a runner does not need medical assistance, he/she may:

  1. remain at the point where he/she abandon until he/she is picked up by a vehicle of the organization that will transfer him/her to the finish line
  2. wait for the vehicle that will follow the last runners and collect the athletes who have abandoned the race or
  3. head to the finish line on his/her own responsibility

ATTENTION: Runners who continue their effort outside the time limit, on any part of the route, must be aware that THEY ARE RUNNING ON THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITY. After 10:30am, the part of the Half Marathon route on Archangelou Ave will be open to traffic.

 HEALTH CARE

All competitors participate on their own responsibility. Organizers are not responsible for any injury or damage to health, that may occur during any of the races.

It is recommended that all participants complete a medical screening, in case they haven’t done so in the recent past. Participants aged 35 and above are encourage to subject themselves to a cardiological test before the race. Organizers will not check the participants’ medical certificates, as all participants compete on their own responsibility while minors run on the responsibility of their guardians. During the race, medical and first aid staff will be on-site (start/finish area) and at selected points across the route, to deal with any medical emergency while providing first-aid assistance.

Timer

There will be a digital timer at the finish line.

Electronic Timing

At the start/finish point there will be electronic control and timing zones to record the times. Control stations will also be located at various distant points along the route.

Any runner without electronic indication at the start, finish and other control zones will be disqualified. Final performance will be recorded and announced only for athletes who finish within the time limit of the race.

The electronic timing of the race, as well as the publication of the results has been undertaken by an official timekeeping company. For this reason, all participating runners should bear the timing chip that they will receive from the Registration Center (when registering in-person at ALPHAMEGA Customer Service Centers) or from the ACS Courier store they selected (upon the completion of their online registration).
